Step #1: Scan Each Item
The cashier will scan each of your items. If you’re buying both SNAP-eligible and non-eligible items, you can either put all the items together or separate them at checkout.
Step #2: Insert Your EBT Card
Once each of your items has been scanned, the cashier will ask you to insert your EBT card into the reader.
Step #3: Enter Your Four-Digit PIN
When you activate your card, you will receive a unique four-digit PIN number. You should never share your PIN number with others.
Once you have inserted your card into the reader, you will be expected to enter your PIN into the machine to complete the transaction.

If each of your items qualifies for payment using EBT, once your payment is authorized, you are free to leave the store.
If some of your items are not eligible for payment using EBT, you will need to use another payment method for the remaining products.
